Change Management
Change management refers to a broad range of processes and professional specialities that are
aimed at successfully introducing change within an organisation. It focuses on changing methods, processes,
procedures, and systems as a result of changes in internal and external factors which influence the ability of
the company to compete or even survive within its competitive environment. It is systematic in
its approach and uses a variety of tools such as team formation, change agents and coaching to bring the
required change about. Classic examples of where change management does not occur successfully is within
the sphere of joint ventures and acquisitions. In an International context one of the major barriers to
successful change management lies in the lack of cross cultural management skills.
